We brought a few more medals home from Howard Wood today! Congrats to the Boys 4x100 meter relay for placing 2nd! Team Members were Mark Deckert, James Deckert, Luke Bormann, and Connor Prunty. Missed first place by two tenths of a second! And Congrats to the boys Medley Relay team for their 6th place finish! Team members were Connor Prunty, Luke Bormann, Maddux Brissette, and Evan Bartelt! Next action is the SESD meet on Tuesday in Platte!

Congrats to the Boys 4x800 meter relay team as they broke the school record at Howard Wood today! Their time was 8:35.35! Team members are Gage Hohn, David Brock, Reco Muilenburg, and Evan Bartelt. Congrats! And congrats to the Boys 4x200 meter relay team on their 5th place finish at Howard Wood today! Team members are Mark Deckert, James Deckert, Maddux Brissette, and Connor Prunty!

This spring the Parkston FFA and Horticulture Class has been working very hard in the greenhouse to produce plants for the annual greenhouse sale! Starting this weekend come out and see what we have to offer. All 4" pots are $3.00 and 10" baskets and planters are $15.00-20.00. Hours: Saturday 2:00-4:00pm, Sunday 12:30-3:00pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 4:00-6:00pm. We can always set up an appointment too! FUTURE EDUCATOR SIGNING DAY! Today we celebrated FIVE graduating seniors that have chosen education as a future profession. Elyssa Bartelt, David Brock, Ally Roth, Gracie Oakley, and Shelby Schmidt all signed a pledge to education this morning. Administration and Staff gathered to celebrate in this education milestone. Thank you to the Educators Rising chapter members for sponsoring this event!

Seniors in Chemistry II got to take one last (mini) field trip before graduation to Farm Life Creamery in Ethan, where they learned how store bought milk, cheese, and ice cream are made! To finish the year, they are learning about one of the last organic functional groups, the carboxylic acids. Carboxylic acids include fatty acids, which are the building blocks of fats in our bodies. Did you know that cow's milk consists of approximately 60-70% saturated fatty acids? Next week, their last lab will involve making soap from the carboxylic salts of carboxylic acids.

Parents! We are hosting weekly basketball workouts at the school again this year. Ambush Basketball Academies is providing the workouts this year on TUESDAY mornings throughout June & July. Ethan-Parkston Youth Softball Camp Ethan-Parkston HS Softball team is hosting a youth softball camp for any player 8U-14U on Saturday, May 18th. Ethan-Parkston earned their first piece of hardware yesterday at the Gayville-Volin Invitational Tournament. They went 3-0 with wins against Avon, Chamberlain, and Gayville-Volin. Way to work, ladies! 🥎💙💛

The Parkston golf meet scheduled to take place at Lakeview Golf Course tomorrow has been cancelled.

Prom Dress ALERT! "Experience the power of community spirit in Parkston! Calling all girls to join us in spreading joy and inclusivity by dropping off your prom dresses at the East entrance of Bormann Manor on Thursday, May 2nd, from 3-5 PM. Your generosity will brighten the lives of our nursing home residents as they get an up-close look at the beauty and glamour of prom attire. Come back on Friday, May 3rd, from 3-5 PM to pick up your dresses, knowing that you've made a difference in someone's day. Let's share the magic of prom and the warmth of our community with those who would cherish it most." When you drop them off, they will be well taken care of, please have them on a sturdy hanger. They will be hung up for a short time for residence to view and then you can quickly get them back the next day as they will not have room to store them. This is in addition to seeing you in them as you walked through Bormann Manor. All the residents truly love seeing you in your formal attire. Julie stokes is the contact for the dress show case!

HOSA is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, May 8 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. We are asking for your help! All of the public is encouraged to donate. Students, ages 16 and older, can sign up if they are in good health and weight at least 120 pounds. Students can earn an honor cord if they donate three times prior to their graduation! ​ American Legion Auxiliary sponsored the Americanism Essay Contest which 6th graders were allowed to participate in. The topic of this year's essay was, "What does Freedom mean to me?" Top essays were chosen from the Parkston 6th grade class; those essays were submitted to the American Legion Auxiliary. Ryder Prickett and Gavin Schoenfelder were chosen as the first and second place winners.

Hope Squad is selling T-Shirts for a fundraiser! All orders must be in by Friday, April 26th! All proceeds will go to Our Home for Mental Health Resources.

Parkston FFA Chapter Members had an excellent time at the State Convention in Brookings this Weekend! Members participated in workshops, the career carnival, competed in Career Development Events, and were recognized for their accomplishments. See below for a list of them: Congratulations to Grace Lindeman for receiving her state degree!! This is a highest award a member can receive from the state association in recognition for their FFA involvement over the years. Emily Walz placed first in the Nursery Operations Category for Proficiency Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Projects. She now has the opportunity to apply at the National Level. Elle Goehring placed third in Division 3 of the Social Systems Category of the Agriscience Fair with her project entitled "Perceptions of Rodeo Livestock Welfare".
