Mackenzie Titze is home safe after representing PHS and South Dakota HOSA at the 2024 HOSA International Leadership Conference in Houston, Texas, from June 26-29!! Mackenzie competed in the Family Medicine Physician Event, which required her to conduct interviews with two family medicine physicians and to research the career pathway in order to present to a panel of her peers about what she learned. At ILC, she presented the same information to a panel of judges, using a digitally educational and creative 10-minute presentation. An infinite amount of gratitude goes out to Advisor Tara Meyer from Bon Homme HOSA for taking Mackenzie to Texas with her four members. While attending the conference, Mackenzie had an amazing time, learned valuable educational and life skills, traded pins with members from all over the world, and even met cousins for the first time! Way to go, Mackenzie! Parkston is so proud of you!

Are you a student who is dedicated when participating in an activity? Are you a student who looks to build skills in teamwork, coordination, and self-confidence? Are you a student who has big goals and loves opportunities? JOIN BAND! Many of the people you look up to (athletes, celebrities, family members, and more!) have been involved in music at some point. Not only does band allow you to learn something new that will stick with you for a lifetime, but it also opens many doors for new opportunities after high school! "What if I don't have an instrument?" - We have you covered! Our school can rent you an instrument and works with both Popplers & Schmitt Music to get you what you need. "I already turned my registration in. Can I still join?" - Yes! Email Ms. Anderson at ashlynn.anderson@k12.sd.us with your top three instrument choices/what you already know how to play. "I don't have any experience, but I would like to try. Can I do this?" - Absolutely. Individual & group lessons are provided during the school day and any other time that you may want some extra practice. I look forward to seeing you in the Fall! *Starred activities are extra opportunities that students may participate in. These events have certain requirements for participation. Email for more details.
