On Day 3 in Nashville, there are still four HOSA girls who are racing for the top. Mya Wickersham is currently at South College competing in Round 2 of Nursing Assisting which requires her to perform nursing skills in a clinical setting. Chantal Wuertzer will head to Belmont University soon to compete in Round 2 of Pharmacy Science which requires her to perform skills in a pharmacy lab setting. The pool of competitors in both of those events have been narrowed down from well over 100 competitors to just 34 each today! Good luck, girls!
Lexi Schoenfelder and Finley Bogenreif put their posters on display yesterday for a public viewing and then the public could ask them questions. After that, they presented to a judging team. Now they are patiently waiting to see if they placed! Good luck, ladies!
**Note: At HOSA ILC, there is only one first place, one second place, and one third place in each event. "To be the best, you must beat the best." Thank you to all of our sponsors who generously contributed to this incredible opportunity! We'll keep you posted!

There is a hardware issue for the school phone system that will need to be replaced. When you call into the school, the phone will ring but no one will be able to answer the phone. If you need to contact the school, you may need to come out to the school or contact that person through their school email. We will let the public know when the hardware is replaced and everything is back up and running. Thank You

Dear 2025–2026 Junior Class Families,
Can you believe the end of the year is already here? It snuck up on me before I had a chance to get this information out—but here we are, ready to kick off another exciting junior year!
As your Junior Class Advisor (year 19—let’s do this!), I’m thrilled to be working with this awesome group of students. We’ve got a large class, big energy, and a lot of TROJAN PRIDE—and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together.
Let’s Get Connected!
To make sure no one misses important updates, I’m building a parent contact list. Please email me at colleen.mette@k12.sd.us with:
Your preferred email address for any parents/guardians involved - please also list who your student is in the email.
Your best phone number
While I can reach the students through their school email, I know firsthand that high schoolers don’t always share everything—so I’ll do my best to keep families in the loop while still putting responsibility on our juniors.
Please share this message with other junior class parents to help us get everyone on the same page from the start!
🎨 First Up: Painting the P’s!
Our first big fundraiser is the traditional Painting of the P’s around town. It’s a great way to kick off the year with some Trojan spirit and raise funds.
✅ All juniors are required to participate, we will split into four groups on one day, 2 in morning and 2 in afternoon to paint over 100 P's
🚗 Parent volunteers needed to help drive and supervise
More info will be emailed soon once I gather the contact list—so don’t forget to reach out!
We want all the P's done before school starts, and definately before homecoming! Paint the town blue and orange!
🍂 Save the Date: Fall Festival
We’ll be hosting the Fall Festival on the Friday of our football bye week. This is our largest fundraiser and includes a silent auction, food, and fun. We’ll need:
Student help with setup and planning - every junior is required to attend and host a booth, parents/ guardians are welcome to join in the fun!
Donations for our silent auction baskets - I will email out more info, every student will donate at least one basket!
The students really look forward to this night—let’s make it amazing!
🤝 PTO & After-Prom Planning
We’ll also be meeting with the PTO early in the year to go over After-Prom event planning and important scheduling details. This is another great opportunity to get involved and make a positive impact. After prom has always been a junior parent event, and we will continue this amazing tradition!
We will also be doing clothing sales the beginning of the year, and posibly one more depending how things go, we strive to complete all fundraising by end of october!
Let’s make it a memorable year for the Parkston Trojan junior Class —full of teamwork, pride, and success. I’m looking forward to working with all of you to support our students in a fun and meaningful way!
GO TROJANS!
With Trojan pride,
Mrs. Mette
